Immerse yourself in children’s literature.
Do you have an idea for a picture book but are not sure where to begin? During this class, we explore the strength of your storyline by helping you sketch out your ideas. Using mentor texts, we introduce narrative techniques that are essential to picture books, such as characterization, plotting, pacing, and age-appropriate language. Each week, we customize the lesson based on your needs and interests. Immerse yourself in the world of children’s literature while developing and strengthening your own voice and style.
Meet Your Instructor: Michele Prestininzi
“I love teaching Picture Book because it’s an invitation to return to your inner child and play. It’s a creative space full of whimsy and fun. We have writers entering the class at all levels of experience––some have full manuscripts others have a nugget of an idea––it all works because of the supportive environment. Together, we unravel the mystery behind picture books, spark new ideas, and help each other develop complete drafts.”
