Honoring Memorial Day Weekend Through Art and Community

In celebration of Memorial Day weekend, the Woman’s Club of Red Bank is proud to welcome local veteran and artist Norman Salt as the newest featured artist in our ongoing local art showcase program, Reckless Pen & Palette. Norman’s artwork is now on display at our historic clubhouse, The Reckless Estate, offering visitors an inspiring collection rooted in creativity, healing, and personal transformation.

As part of the club’s commitment to supporting local artists, Art Committee Co-Chair Peggy Masse recently welcomed Norman’s work into the program. Reckless Pen & Palette highlights artists from our community and creates opportunities for members and guests to discover local talent in a unique and welcoming setting.

Transformation Through Art Therapy

Norman Salt, a veteran and retired healthcare professional, discovered painting just three years ago through a program sponsored by Vietnam Veterans of America. What began as an introduction to art evolved into a meaningful creative outlet and therapeutic journey.

Representing the Vietnam Veterans Association, Jersey Shore Chapter, Norman’s story demonstrates how art can inspire healing, purpose, and self-expression. While painting remains primarily a hobby, his artwork is available for purchase for anyone interested in supporting a local veteran artist.

First Public Viewings

The community’s first opportunity to see Norman’s work will be tonight, May 22, during the Woman’s Club of Red Bank’s Comedy Night fundraiser. The event is open to the public and offers guests a chance to enjoy an evening of laughter while also viewing Norman’s collection displayed throughout The Reckless Estate.

Another opportunity to experience the exhibit arrives next Friday, May 28, during our monthly Reckless Steamy Nights concert series hosted by the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation featuring a performance by The Burners.

Norman’s art will remain on display for several months, and plans are underway for a future open house event. We encourage everyone to check our calendar for upcoming opportunities to visit, support local arts, and celebrate the work of this talented veteran artist.
