Mahjong Mock Tournament Brings Fun & Friendly Competition to the Woman’s Club of Red Bank
A lively December 1st event hosted by Mahjong instructor and club member Jami Josephson Chace
On December 1st at 10:30 a.m., the Woman’s Club of Red Bank welcomed members and guests for a lively and engaging Mahjong Mock Tournament—a morning filled with strategy, learning, and lots of laughter. Hosted by club member and seasoned Mahjong instructor Jami Josephson Chace, the event offered players of all levels an opportunity to experience tournament-style play in a relaxed, supportive setting.
A mock tournament is designed to simulate the structure and pace of a real Mahjong competition, but without the pressure of formal scoring or high-stakes rounds. It’s an ideal setting for new and intermediate players to practice gameplay, sharpen their skills, and get comfortable with tournament flow. For many attendees, this event was their first experience playing in timed rounds, rotating tables, and strategizing under gentle time constraints.
Throughout the mock tournament, Jami guided players with encouragement, helpful tips, and a focus on fun. The room buzzed with the familiar clacking of tiles, bursts of laughter, and the friendly chatter of participants enjoying the game and each other’s company. Photos from the day show smiling players fully immersed in the spirit of friendly competition and community.

Let’s Play Mahjong
Jami, who co-teaches Mahjong with her sister Elva through their company Let’s Play Mahjong (www.LetsPlayMahjong.com ), brought her trademark warmth and energy to the morning. Serving the Jersey Shore and New York area, Jami and Elva have turned a lifelong passion—rooted in childhood memories, family gatherings, and years of friendly neighborhood play—into a unique teaching experience. Today, they share that love with others by creating learning environments that feel more like a party with friends than a class.
The Woman’s Club looks forward to hosting more Mahjong classes and events in the coming year—continuing to bring people together through joyful shared experiences.
