Jazz Magic at The Reckless Estate with Yvonne & Friends Jazz Quartet
On Halloween eve, our historic clubhouse—proudly known as The Reckless Estate, built by Senator Anthony Reckless—was filled with the smooth, soulful sounds of jazz from Yvonne & Friends Jazz Quartet!
Our community partner, the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation (JSJBF), presents the monthly Reckless Steamy Nights music series at the Reckless Estate, and this October’s performance was a particularly memorable evening.
The audience was treated to an extraordinary performance by the Yvonne & Friends Jazz Quartet. Lead vocalist Yvonne Martinez, joined by Brad Mandigo on piano, Jerry D’Anna on upright bass, and Bobby Boyd on drums, delighted listeners with an engaging and versatile performance.
Their two vibrant sets took the audience on a journey across the jazz spectrum—from Great American Songbook classics like “What a Little Moonlight Can Do” and “The Look of Love” to the breezy Bossa Nova rhythms of “The Girl from Ipanema” and a fiery rendition of the Mexican bolero “Bésame Mucho.”
As JSJBF President Tom Baldino noted in his article “Yvonne and Friends Share an Intimate Night at Reckless“, it was an evening when the audience simply got lost in the wonderful music—a perfect match for the intimate atmosphere of our historic home.
