Revitalizing History: The Recent Transformation
We are thrilled to announce that a major piece of preservation work at the Woman’s Club of Red Bank was officially completed this past weekend! Thanks to a generous matching grant from the Monmouth County Historical Commission, our historic clubhouse has seen a stunning transformation on its second floor. Managed with expert care by Sue Kevra, the renovation addressed these structural and aesthetic issues head-on.
Bedroom Renovation
The project, which began following an award announcement of $10,000 in February 2026, focused on the comprehensive restoration of the southeast bedroom. This room had long suffered from significant damage, which unfortunately led to deteriorating conditions in the walls, ceiling, and flooring. The results are breathtaking. What was once a damaged space has been reborn as the “Yellow Room.” Every inch of the room—from the newly repaired soffit and ceiling to the freshly finished walls and gleaming floors—has been restored to its former glory. But the work didn’t stop at the doorway.
Stairway Hall Wall
A portion of the grant was also utilized to restore the second-floor hallway floor and the wall leading up the stairs to the third floor, ensuring a seamless and polished look throughout the upper levels of our home.

Soffit Repairs
The structural integrity of the Anthony Reckless Estate was bolstered by the comprehensive repair and stabilization of the aging exterior soffit, which had begun to fail under the weight of time. By reinforcing these “bones” of the house, we successfully halted the cycle of deterioration caused by the compromised soffit, which had previously allowed heat and humidity to infiltrate and damage the interior’s historic plaster and woodwork. This vital work ensures the clubhouse remains a weather-tight sanctuary, protecting the building’s core for another century of community service.

We are especially excited about the future of this space. The Yellow Room will soon become the official hub for our Art Committee, providing a bright, inspiring environment for creativity to flourish within our historic walls.
This project is a testament to what we can achieve through community partnership and a shared dedication to historic preservation. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Monmouth County Historical Commission for their support in helping us maintain the integrity and beauty of the Woman’s Club of Red Bank for generations to come.
Be sure to stop by soon to see the incredible transformation for yourself!
