Tea Ritual at The Woman’s Club

The Woman’s Club of Red Bank recently transformed into a sanctuary of stillness for our April Club Gathering. On the evening of April 14th, members and guests stepped away from the relentless pace of digital notifications and daily to-do lists to embrace “The Gentle Pause,” a unique tea ritual led by Susan Miller of Steeped in Soul.

The Anthony Reckless Estate provided the perfect historic backdrop for an evening dedicated to reconnection. Susan began by sharing the inspiring story behind Steeped in Soul, illustrating how the simple act of brewing tea can become a powerful tool for managing stress and restoring balance in our modern lives.

The heart of the evening was the guided ritual itself. Unlike the hurried “grab-and-go” caffeine fixes we often rely on, this experience was about presence. Guests were invited to focus on the sensory details of the tea—the warmth of the cup, the rising steam, and the complex aromas—encouraging everyone to step out of the rush and back into themselves. Susan demonstrated that a “meaningful ritual” doesn’t require hours of time, but rather a shift in intention.

The atmosphere in the room was one of collective calm, a stark and welcome contrast to the usual multitasking of a busy Tuesday. As a special token of the evening, each guest received a Serenity Tea Box, equipped with everything needed to recreate this simple ritual at home.

We are so grateful to Susan Miller for reminding us that pausing is not a luxury, but a necessity for our well-being. It was a beautiful night of community and mindfulness that left us all feeling a little more centered as we headed back out into the world.
