An Evening of Community, Comedy, and Support for a Historic Red Bank Institution

May 22, 2026 Comedy Night fundraiser

The Woman’s Club of Red Bank recently welcomed guests for an unforgettable Comedy Night Fundraiser, transforming the club’s historic clubhouse into a lively comedy venue filled with laughter, friendship, and community spirit.

Hosted by Rita Das and sponsored by Village Lift, the evening brought together neighbors, supporters, and comedy fans for a night that perfectly blended entertainment with fundraising in support of the club’s ongoing community initiatives and preservation efforts.

A Patriotic Welcome to the Evening

Guests arriving at the clubhouse were greeted by festive red, white, and blue decorations thoughtfully arranged by decorating co-chair Jennifer Noonan. The exterior of the clubhouse featured patriotic buntings, wreaths, and seasonal plants in anticipation of America’s upcoming 250-year celebrations. Even “Eleanor,” the club’s welcoming greeter mannequin, was dressed for the occasion in coordinating patriotic attire.

At the front door, club members Joyce Diamond, Peggy Masse, and Carol Ingaro warmly welcomed attendees, accepted tickets, and cheerfully assisted walk-in guests throughout the evening.

The Clubhouse Transforms into a Comedy Venue

Inside, the main living room was beautifully transformed into an intimate comedy club atmosphere thanks to decorating co-chair Jennie Sherman. Small tables draped in black tablecloths and accented with single lights created the perfect setting for an evening of stand-up comedy.

Meanwhile, guests enjoyed snacks and beverages served in the dining room, organized by the club’s president, Christina Hardman O’Neal, whose efforts helped make the evening both welcoming and memorable.

As the lights dimmed, excitement filled the room and the evening officially began.

A Fantastic Lineup of Comedy Talent

Master of Ceremonies Stephen Steel immediately energized the crowd with his quick wit and engaging stage presence. In addition to hosting the evening, Steel also curated the comedy lineup, bringing together an outstanding group of performers for the fundraiser.

Next to take the stage was Sue Ryerson, whose relatable stories and authentic Jersey humor resonated with many in the audience.

Tania Lewis followed with a wide-ranging set packed with sharp observations and clever humor that kept guests smiling and laughing throughout her performance.

Headliner Helene Angley closed out the evening with nonstop comedy and crowd interaction that had the audience roaring with laughter. By the end of the night, many guests joked that their cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing so much.

Laughter with a Purpose

Beyond the entertainment, the Comedy Night Fundraiser served an important purpose — supporting the Woman’s Club of Red Bank and helping preserve its historic clubhouse while continuing the organization’s longstanding commitment to community service.

Special thanks were extended to Rita Das for initiating and organizing the fundraiser, as well as to all the volunteers, performers, sponsors, and attendees who helped make the evening such a tremendous success.

With laughter echoing throughout the clubhouse and community members coming together in support of a meaningful cause, the event was a wonderful reminder of the power of local organizations to create connection, joy, and lasting memories.
