Reckless Pen & Palette

Reckless Pen & Palette local art on display

Local Artists and Authors at the Woman’s Club of Red Bank

Art on Display in a Historic Setting

The Woman’s Club of Red Bank is proud to present the Reckless Pen & Palette, an ongoing showcase that highlights the creativity of local artists and authors. Through this community service initiative, artists are invited to display their work throughout our historic clubhouse for one to three months, bringing color, inspiration, and culture to every room.

Displayed artwork is enjoyed by club members during monthly meetings, social gatherings, and fundraising events. It is also viewed by guests attending private celebrations, public programs, and events hosted by our community and non-profit partners.

Led by the Art Committee

The program is coordinated by the club’s Art Committee Co-Chairs, Peggy Masse and Anna Cohen D’Adamo, who work to create opportunities for local artists to share their talents with a wider audience. Participating artists are also encouraged to host an open house, inviting family, friends, and community members to experience their work in a welcoming and historic setting.

Preserving Historic Walls, Spotlighting Local Artists

Help us protect our history and spotlight Central New Jersey’s vibrant talent. The original 1894 plaster walls of our historic clubhouse need a sustainable, damage-free way to showcase artwork, alongside professional gallery lighting to bring each piece to life. By contributing to the Reckless Pen & Palette display upgrade, you are preserving a local landmark while giving community artists the stage—and the lighting—they truly deserve.

Why “Reckless Pen & Palette”?

The name Reckless Pen & Palette isn’t just a catchy phrase—it is a direct reflection of our historic roots and a celebration of creative harmony. Here is how that identity comes to life:

  • The Reckless Legacy: The name proudly honors Senator Anthony Reckless, the visionary who built our historic clubhouse and played a pivotal role in shaping Red Bank’s history. By anchoring our identity in his name, we preserve a vital piece of local heritage.
  • The Pen (Literacy & Voice): While the physical artwork on display celebrates visual creativity, the “Pen” honors another core pillar of the Woman’s Club mission: literacy. Today, we expand that definition to champion local writers and authors whose words enrich our community’s cultural fabric.
  • The Palette (Visual Art): The “Palette” represents the vibrant canvas of visual arts that fills our space. It stands for the brushstrokes, colors, and diverse mediums of local artists who transform our clubhouse into a living gallery.
