An Unforgettable Night of Blues at the Reckless Estate

Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundations presents The Nick Moss Band and Dennis Gruenling at a Reckless Steamy Nights concert.
The Woman’s Club of Red Bank recently had the distinct pleasure of hosting an absolutely electrifying event: a sold-out house concert featuring The Nick Moss Band with the phenomenal Dennis Gruenling. While the show was presented by our community partners, the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation, the intimate and historic setting for this masterclass in authentic Chicago blues was right here in our own clubhouse, the Anthony Reckless Estate.
For 25 years, our beautiful living room has welcomed countless performances, but few have brought the kind of world-class energy and talent demonstrated by Nick Moss, a master blues guitarist, and Dennis Gruenling, a harmonica virtuoso. Along with bassist Andrew Gohman and drummer Pierce Downer, they captivated a standing-room-only crowd on a steamy late September evening.
The band delivered an unforgettable journey deep into the blues well. They opened the night with an explosive instrumental, “The Rev,” setting a high-energy tone that never dropped. From their high-octane take on classics like Jimmy Rogers’ “Act Like You Love Me” to Nick’s rich vocals on their own celebrated tracks, every member showcased why they are globally recognized artists. Dennis, in particular, was a spectacle of “athletic style” on the harp, putting his whole back into every emotive note.
The second set featured searing slide guitar on an Elmore James tune and a full-throttle harp treatment of Hound Dog Taylor. The band demonstrated true mastery, making every song their own while honoring the roots of the blues. The evening culminated in a powerful finale, with the band living up to their own standard—they certainly treated the audience right, delivering a full evening of genuine, high-caliber music.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special event! We look forward to hosting more world-class performances in our historic venue.
